Submission Guidelines 2021 – V36:

Verandah is an art and literary journal now in its 36th year of publication. Our aim is to give a voice to emerging artists and writers. This year’s publication is founded around the theme of “Intersections”.

- Think a waiting room, a hallway, a bridge. An ocean. An airport, train station, a long highway. Or maybe, a dream.

- Think the gap between you and I, our edges, the dialogue between our experiences. The cracks, how do we mend them?

- Or is this transitory space one that you want to stay in? That we should stay in? A perpetual state of becoming. What possibilities are generated here?

We invite you to respond to this theme, but it is non-binding and is more of an idea that will bring the whole publication together, rather than a thematic requirement on individual pieces.

This journal will only accept previously unpublished work. Works that have been created as part of university assignments will be accepted.

Submissions will close on the 16th of June 2021.
